Before :-( After !

Well of course I could see the possibilities, good bones, ie. real wood , traditional shape.  The fabric choice? (ugly) So after some sanding painting removing old fabric then applying new fabric "viola"

I took this very dated Hunter green Bar Stool and gave it a whole new lease on Life...

Pencil Sharpener?

Just a Little diddy,
For the person who has everything: artisanal pencil sharpening

August 11, 2010
7:20 am

David Rees, the man behind the popular political comic Get Your War On, wants to sharpen you a pencil. Slowly. Attentively. And with a carefully selected sharpener or blade that suits the pencil best. If there are movements for slow food and slow reading, why not for slow writing implements?

"With an electric pencil sharpener, a pencil is meat," Rees said. "It's this thoughtless, Brutalist aesthetic. For me, it's almost a point of pride that I would be slower than an electric pencil sharpener."

This is how Rees' artisanal pencil sharpening works: You might send him your favorite pencil, but Rees more often selects and sharpens a classic No. 2 pencil for his clients, he promises, "carefully and lovingly." He slides the finished pencil's very sharp tip into a specially-sized segment of plastic tubing, then puts the whole pencil in a larger, firmer tube that looks like it belongs in a science experiment. Throw it at a wall, he says, and it won't break. The cost? $15.

Rees lives in New York's Hudson Valley, a region full of tiny vineyards and cheese makers and old-school butchers and bookbinders. It's a place where people take the time to create things by hand.

He packs up his blades on Aug. 20 for a show in Massachusetts at the Montague Book Mill, whose motto is: "Books you don't need in a place you can't find." For those who do find it, Rees will be sharpening pencils on stage as part of a show with "Daily Show" correspondent John "I'm a PC" Hodgman, author of "The Areas of My Expertise" and "More Information Than You Require."

Rees will appear wearing his safety goggles and a dust mask, and sharpen pencils live. "I will be making people happy," he said. He also says that at performances like this, he may shave a bit off the pencils' price.

Why would a man whose cartoon was made of clip art turn to the pencil? "I've always loved the iconic No. 2 pencil," he explained. "When I was working for the 2010 census, we were each issued No. 2 pencils and a manual sharpener. We all sharpened our pencils on the first day of training, and I was like, 'I'm feeling this. This rules. I like sharpening pencils.' It had been a while since I had done it. And the more I thought about it, the more I was like, 'If I could figure out how to get paid to sharpen pencils, I would be happy.' So I decided to become an artisanal pencil sharpener."

Rees opened his website storefront about a month ago. Many customers order a limited-edition print -- the newest one depicts Rees in a man-versus-machine pencil-sharpening showdown -- and an artisanally sharpened pencil together for $60. The orders have been coming in regularly, but Rees admitted, "I hope that it will pick up as fall approaches and school starts. I think it will be a nice way to kick off the school year, with a super-duper sharp pencil."

So far, Rees is the leader in the field. "Nobody else is doing what I do," he said. "I guarantee an authentic interaction with your pencil. What mechanical pencil sharpener can say that? The X-ACTO XLR 1818? The Royal 16959T? Don't make me laugh."

"I'm going to have this nice, authentic, considered reaction with your pencil," Rees said. "I just want to treat it with respect. And get it really freaking sharp."

Tommy Crush!!!

Tommy who?

I would have to say that Tommy Smythe is on my top 10 designer T.V. personality list.  If you are not a fan of the Sarah Richardson show on HGTV, well then maybe you have never watched Tommy in action, he is not only Sarah's stylist but also her "Mr Personality" sidekick on her show.
Thought you might enjoy a quick video of Tommy's  "LITTLE" bachelor pad, wonder if I could be his BFF?

Just another "Manic Monday"

Bet you cant guess how i will be spending my DAY
Yes I'll be rescuing this neglected cast off.  Feels so good to be the chosen one.

Seriously?  This innocent victim had been already transformed three different times, and may i just say she fell victim to poor taste.  I mean really, she has those beautiful curvy legs and she speaks French country.  You can dress her up but can't take her out (tragic).

Feeling the Love,  just hope i don't get to attached :-)

Have a Great Day
Hugs

I Love being a Grandma! especially to this little Man

I was able to spend a week in beautiful Oregon with the little man and his parents. We did all the things a active little mind could dream of doing.  It was so refreshing to watch, with wonderment, the joys in just the simple things, feeding a duck or watering the garden.  A simple walk to the park resulted in some of the most intertaining converstions of the day.

We all looked forward to PaPa Art comming and spending a few days hanging out with us.  Which of course meant some golf .  Lots of wrestling and always time for a project.

Road Trip!!!

Yes sir re, I even managed to talk Art into a three hour drive North to Battle Ground, Washington.  Whats that you ask? No we dont have extended family there, just another girl on a flea market mission (cant help myself).  I love the people, the surroundings and all the creativity.  This was not your ordinary flea market, it was put together by two very special guys , now mind you i have no personal relationship with them but in my stalker blogger world, they are my very best friends (Barn House). Please do stop by and introduce yourselves, promise youll enjoy there story.
(A GIRL CANT EVEN DREAM UP THIS MUCH EYE CANDY)
While poking around feasting my eyes I spotted another blogging friend now remember we personally have never met.  Again just a reminder "I am a blogger stalker".  I recognized her beautiful smile and so I introduced myself and she was as sweet and lovely as i would of imagenined my friend to be (its so fun when your pretend friends become real!)
She has the best blog..... enjoy meeting  (Fancy Farmgirl) see picture below.

Take a Deep Breath!

All better – It’s true sometimes life can just take over and before you know it, days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months and somewhere in-between summer shows up and you never even got to really enjoy spring.
I love summer

So anyway this is not a little diddy about how to slow down, take time and smell the roses, etc, etc, but it’s more a personal look at myself. I’m going to just put it out there for all you family members and friends – I really do not enjoy the blogging, facebook, tweeting process, why not? Good question! So after some long self examination I came to the conclusion that I just have to find patience to allow any patient person to walk me thru the process. So with no further ado I am promising (after this post) to let my favorite daughter in law no longer have to edit and or clean up my verbiage, I am going to do all by myself. So, who would love to volunteer to teach a not very patient student? (Art did I hear you volunteer?) Really he does have the patience of a saint. Wish me luck!

Why am I about to put myself thru this process? . . . Glad you asked.
Well because I am in a good place in my life right now and I feel the power of sharing is a good thing, I must admit that although blog stalking is a sport that I should be given some kind of reward for, I have become very proficient at it. There are times when I’ll read a thought someone has and instead of commenting, I just move on. This is something I am going to work on, I believe that sharing information and good ideas is powerful and well who doesn’t want that. But let me just warn you guys I tend to be a rule breaker, just saying, I will do my best to abide by the rules, but please forgive me if at any time I fail to do so (never intentionally).

I will be taking some time off, girls got to do her homework, right? The original path that I had chosen seems to have taken on a new direction, not that that’s so bad. It has actually been exciting and fun I have always thrived on change, never been one of those to shy away from it and I actually tend to seek it out. So I hope you’ll come back and check out the new and improved me!

Wanted to share my little desk where I sit and think (surf the net…)

Here are the latest photos of what you can find in my booth at Merchant Square

It’s almost noon and I’m still in my pj's guess I should start my day!
